In the meantime, I ordered a fresh upgrade of Disk Warrior (4.4), and tried it on the Seagate yesterday. The reinstall, however, went surprisingly well. I finally ended up reinstalling the OS, after spending a bunch of time making safety copies of files. There then ensued a diversion after I attempted to boot my 2010 27" iMac (Snow Leopard) from an old version of Disk Warrior (3.0.3), which rendered the iMac incapable of booting normally (only Safe Mode would work): I attempted to copy the backup files to another drive, but it was beyond the capability of the Finder.

Is DiskWarrior compatible with Mac OS X 10.4.Time Machine was unable to write to my external Seagate 1.5TB USB drive. When I start up my computer from the DiskWarrior 3.x CD, the RAID is not visible for DiskWarrior to Rebuild the directory. My hard drives are formatted as a RAID under Mac OS X 10.4.x (Tiger).

I am running Parallels / VMware / BootCamp / Windows XP / Windows Vista on my Intel-based Macintosh computer. When I start up my computer from the DiskWarrior 4.x CD and Rebuild the directory, DiskWarrior returns an error (2154).

I received DiskWarrior 4.x electronically, but I cannot rebuild the directory of my startup disk because I do not have a second media source from which to run it. If a disk with a sibling link error is still mountable, I would advise backing up the accessible files and folders on the disk before attempting to repair it with that type of disk repair utility. Sometimes the repairs fail and the directory is damaged further. Sibling errors are notoriously difficult for some of the patching type of disk repair utilities to repair. As I said, a sibling link error makes some of your items inaccessible and can even prevent a disk from mounting. Either the link refers to the wrong node or it refers to an invalid node. Well nodes are not arranged in order and each node has a reference, or link, to the next node that contains the next set of ordered items. Each file or folder (item) on a disk has an entry in the disk's directory. Mac OS Standard (HFS) and Mac OS Extended (HFS Plus) disk directories have a very complex structure. It indicates that parts of your directory, and therefore some of your files and folders, are inaccessible. This is an error you definitely don't want.
